What is Temporary Works Design?
Temporary works design are completed by structural engineers and relate to the design of temporary works which are required to enable construction of the permanent structure. For instance temporary works design is required for the likes of shuttering/shoring of excavation works, for scaffolding, formwork etc. These are all temporary structures which safeguard and are utilised to enable the final building to be constructed in a safe and efficient manner.
A principal contractor and the client’s health and safety advisor needs to ensure that these temporary structures are suitable designed to take the imposed load and therefore a structural engineer will be required to complete the temporary works design.
